We Want You To Stay Healthy This Flu Season
401 788-1641, Flu Clinic Hotline
Every year we offer public flu vaccination clinics at convenient locations throughout Washington County. These clinics, for those age 19 and older, begin in October and extend into December. View the 2016 flu clinic schedule >
Who Should Be Vaccinated?
The state Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control recommend an annual flu vaccination for everyone, in particular pregnant women; those 65 years and older; and those with long-term or chronic health problems such as asthma, heart disease, lung disease, kidney disease, diabetes or anemia. Adults with weakened immune systems due to cancer or cancer treatment, healthcare workers, residents of nursing homes or long-term care facilities and caregivers for children age six months or younger should also be vaccinated.
What Does It Cost?
Individuals insured by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island, Medicare, Medicaid, Tufts, United Healthcare and Tricare must bring proof of health insurance coverage to receive a free vaccination. For those with other insurance plans, check with your carrier to see if the vaccine at a public clinic is covered. For all others the cost is $20. Checks or cash are accepted.
If You've Missed a Flu Clinic...
If our flu clinics are completed for this season, you may still be able to receive the flu vaccine at your primary care physician's office. If you do not have a primary care physician call 401 783-5544 (Find a Doctor line).
