Nurses first in region to be awarded Pathway to Excellence®
South County Hospital was awarded the prestigious Pathway to Excellence® designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, becoming the first hospital in New England to achieve this recognition. The designation identifies the Hospital as one of the best places for nurses to work.
"This designation recognizes the extraordinary work carried out every day by our outstanding staff of nurses," Barbara Seagrave, Chief Nursing Officer and VP of Patient Care Services at the Hospital noted upon receiving the news. "We are so proud of our staff, and this organization, because Pathway to Excellence®-designated organizations are deemed the best places to work for nurses, with high nurse satisfaction and retention. Research shows that healthy work environments improve not only nurse satisfaction but also patient satisfaction and quality of care."
As a Pathway to Excellence® designated organization, South County Hospital is committed to nurses, to what nurses identify as important to their practice, and to valuing nurses' contributions in the workplace. This designation confirms to the public that nurses working at South County Hospital know their efforts are supported. The honor encourages other nurses to join their colleagues in this desirable and nurturing environment.
