Good health starts with eating well. South County Health offers outpatient Medical Nutrition Therapy and nutrition counseling services provided by board certified Registered Dietitian Nutritionists at 3 locations: Wakefield, Westerly, and East Greenwich.

Our dietitians help you understand how food plays a role in achieving and maintaining good health. They work with you to create an eating plan tailored to your needs and help you work toward your personal goals in an encouraging and supportive environment. They understand the complex relationships of food, family, lifestyle, and medical conditions, and can assist you in translating complex information into everyday practical food preparation and eating.

Our outpatient Registered Dietitians are experts in clinical nutrition and behavior change techniques.  They specialize in modifying food choices to help treat many conditions including, but not limited to:

  • Type-1 & Type-2 Diabetes
  • Gestational Diabetes
  • Pre-Diabetes
  • High Cholesterol and Triglycerides
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Gastrointestinal Disorders (i.e. Crohn’s, Colitis, GERD, IBS)

An order from your medical care provider for Medical Nutrition Therapy services is required. Orders should be faxed to South County Health’s Scheduling Resource Center 401-789-7455. Once the Scheduling Resource Center receives your  order,  you will receive a phone call to schedule your appointment.  For information, call 401-788-1486.

Most health insurances cover appointments with South County Health’s outpatient Registered Dietitian Nutritionists if you are referred for Medical Nutrition Therapy for a diagnosed medical condition. As health insurance benefits vary, it is recommended that you contact your insurance for specific coverage information such as number of visits, co-pays, and deductibles.
