South County Health caregiver discusses care with patient

South County Hospital among top 16 percent nationally for compliance with Hospital Price Transparency Rule

South County Hospital is proud to announce we are among the top 16 percent of hospitals nationwide to be fully compliant with the federal hospital price transparency rule. We take immense pride in knowing we are among those at the forefront of transforming healthcare in this country.

“Offering transparency on our procedure costs is a natural part of our commitment to our community,” says Aaron Robinson, President & CEO. “We know healthcare costs continue to rise and we will continue to advocate for affordable healthcare so every family in Rhode Island can get quality and timely services.”

Providing prices that consumers can access and compare before they receive treatment not only gives them more control of their healthcare dollars, but also more peace of mind when they seek treatment. Studies show that half of all Americans avoided needed medical care last year because they were afraid of what it would cost. South County Health has removed that mystery and been part of the solution for transparent and functional healthcare in our nation.

Patient Rights Advocate, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, nonpartisan organization focused on ushering in systemwide healthcare price transparency. In Rhode Island, the report looked at 9 hospitals, and found only 3 to be fully compliant, including South County Health. Only 319 of the 2,000 hospitals assessed were fully complying with the rule, which went into effect 20 months ago.
