South County Health and Aetna have reached an agreement restoring in-network access for patients enrolled in Aetna Medicare Advantage plans for elective outpatient and surgical services, effective June 1, 2026.

The agreement allows patients with Aetna Medicare Advantage coverage to once again schedule and receive elective outpatient and surgical services at South County Health with in-network access.

While we are appreciative that an agreement has now been reached, it is important that future discussions and agreements with Aetna continue to support sustainable terms that do not jeopardize our ability to remain financially strong and continue investing in the high-quality healthcare services our community depends on.

Important reminders for patients:

  • The agreement applies specifically to Aetna Medicare Advantage plans.
  • Emergency Department, inpatient, observation, and Home Health services remain unaffected.
  • Aetna Commercial plans were never impacted.

Throughout these discussions, South County Health remained focused on restoring access for impacted patients while advocating for sustainable reimbursement terms that support the organization’s long-term financial strength and continued investment in local healthcare services.

South County Health appreciates the patience and understanding shown by patients and the community during this process.

Patients with questions about coverage or benefits are encouraged to contact Aetna directly or speak with a South County Health Patient Financial Advocate.
