The 2026 Conrad-Nestor-Walsh Scholarship is now accepting applications, offering an incredible opportunity for students with ties to South County Health. The scholarship is designed to support those pursuing post-secondary education while honoring the legacy of three remarkable physicians who made significant contributions to South County Health.
Honoring a Legacy of Service
Established in 1999 by David Chorney, MD, the Conrad-Nestor-Walsh Scholarship honors the lasting contributions of three physicians who played significant roles in shaping South County Hospital and its commitment to exceptional patient care. Robert L. Conrad, MD, advanced hospital facilities and emergency services during his tenure from 1965 to 2000, including helping establish Rhode Island's first EMT program. Thomas A. Nestor, MD, served the hospital and community for four decades with compassion and dedication, including caring for wounded soldiers during World War II.
