Bringing Families to Center Court
South County Health’s Rhody Baby Race returned to the University of Rhode Island’s Ryan Center this weekend, taking place during halftime of the men’s basketball game against the University of Richmond. Now in its second year, the event continues to grow as a meaningful partnership between South County Health and the URI community.
Babies ages six to twelve months participated in the lighthearted race, crawling across center court while family members and fans looked on. Participants represented communities across Rhode Island and neighboring areas, bringing families together for a memorable moment during the game.

A Commitment Beyond the Finish Line

“This event is a celebration of family, community, and the bright future ahead of these children,” said Martha Moe, MD, Medical Director of the Center for Women’s Health at South County Health. “We’re proud to support families at every stage of life, and the Rhody Baby Race is a fun and meaningful way to highlight that commitment.”
With strong participation and enthusiastic support from attendees, the Rhody Baby Race is quickly becoming an anticipated tradition during URI’s basketball season. South County Health remains dedicated to promoting wellness, supporting families, and creating opportunities that positively impact the community.
