From his first days as a new graduate nurse in Boston to stepping into a clinical leadership role back home in Rhode Island, Robert (Bobby) Lepre’s journey reflects a steady commitment to growth, adaptability, and purpose. With experience spanning hospitals across New England and a willingness to pursue every opportunity that came his way, Bobby has built a career defined not just by where he’s worked—but by how he’s evolved. Now serving as Clinical Leader for Med-Surg/Frost 3 at South County Health, he brings both frontline insight and a forward-looking perspective to his team, grounded in the belief that strong leadership starts with support, curiosity, and action.
From New Graduate to New England Experience
Robert (Bobby) Lepre, BSN, RN, MBA, began his nursing career with a strong clinical foundation and a willingness to explore.
“I started my nursing career as a new graduate RN at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston before transitioning into travel nursing. As a travel nurse, I worked at several hospitals throughout New England, gaining experience across different systems and styles of care.”

Finding the Right Fit at South County Health
Returning home to Rhode Island marked a turning point.
“In September 2024, I returned home to Rhode Island and joined South County Hospital as a direct hire RN in the float pool.”
It didn’t take long to find where he thrived most.
“As a float nurse I found I most enjoyed working nights on Frost 3, so in the fall of 2025 I became the full-time night charge nurse on Frost 3.”
Stepping Into Leadership
Bobby’s career path reflects a clear intention to grow beyond the bedside.
“While I expected to stay in that role longer, an opportunity came up to continue advancing my career, so in March I transitioned into my current role as Clinical Leader for Med-Surg/Frost 3.”
His educational background supported that transition.
“My BSN prepared me for bedside nursing, and my MBA with a concentration in healthcare administration has helped me better understand leadership, operations, and healthcare as a whole.”
And as with any new role, growth is ongoing.
“I’m still settling into my new position and figuring out how to be an effective Clinical Leader, but Siobhan and the other nurse leaders have been very supportive and helpful during my transition.”
Looking Ahead
Bobby’s focus is both immediate and future-oriented.
“Long term I’m interested in continuing to grow into higher-level leadership roles… but for now I’m focused on being a successful Clinical Leader for Frost 3.”
He’s also energized by what’s ahead for the organization.
“There’s a lot we already do really well, but there is so much more potential ahead, and I’m optimistic about being part of that change and growth.”
The Value of Support and Opportunity
Support systems and benefits have played a key role in his journey.
“SCH’s student loan forgiveness program has been the most impactful benefit for me… a big stress relief.”
A Team That Feels Like Family
For Bobby, the people make the difference.
“I love my Frost 3 coworkers and feel very protective of them. I spend more time with them than I do my own family and friends.”
His goal is simple but meaningful: “I want Frost 3 and SCH as a whole to be a place where patients experience positive outcomes and all members of the healthcare team genuinely want to work.”
Advice for Future Leaders
Bobby’s guidance is grounded in action and openness.
“Say yes to every opportunity and keep moving forward. Take the class, get the degree, join the committee, make the connections, apply for the job—even if you’re not sure you’re ready.”
Beyond the Hospital Walls
Outside of work, Bobby stays just as driven.
“My brother, sister-in-law, and I own and manage multiple rental properties, and I’m also a newly licensed real estate agent in RI.”
And he continues to challenge himself personally.
“In my free time I try to stay active, and I am running another half marathon with friends at the end of the month.”
Bobby’s journey is a reflection of what’s possible when growth is embraced, opportunities are pursued, and leadership is built step by step.
