On November 9, South County Health Patient Care Technician Elisa Lovegrove was recognized with a Petal Award. Elisa was nominated by the daughter of a 95-year-old patient.

Elisa is a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in South County Hospital’s Telemetry Unit. Under the supervision of the nursing team, Patient Care Technicians provide daily care for patients, including taking vital signs, helping to move patients, and assisting patients with basic needs.

Elisa has been a PCT with South County Health for four years and is retiring later this month. In Elisa’s nominating letter, the patient’s daughter writes,

“My dad spent the last five days in South County Hospital. While most everyone was friendly and helpful, Elisa stood out as a constant source of support and care.” She goes on to say that Elisa “was sensitive to my dad’s needs and very conscientious of his impaired hearing. Elisa did her job with grace and humor.”

Anitra Galmore, Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, presented the award, saying “Thank you, Elisa, for so beautifully modeling our values. And if you get tired of retirement, you have a place at South County Health!”

Of her work as a PCT, Elisa said, “it brings me so much happiness! You have to have heart for this work. That’s what I try to teach when I train new Patient Care Technicians.” Along with her award, Elisa received a bouquet of daisies and a beautiful tray of frosted sugar cookies for the entire department to enjoy.
