South County Health is proud to recognize Ron Loughlin as the May Volunteer of the Month, celebrating his compassion, dedication, and the positive impact he has made.

Since joining South County Health in September 2005, Ron has become an irreplaceable part of the Emergency Department family. From his very first shift, it was clear he brought something special—steadiness, humor, and a genuine desire to make each day a little brighter for the people around him.

Ask anyone in the ED about Ron, and the praise comes quickly: “He is the best.” “He has a good sense of humor.” “We love his dad jokes.” “He’s the grandfather of the ED.” Nurses and providers describe him as a “bundle of joy” who “makes tough days easier” simply by being himself.

Ron is the kind of volunteer who is willing to do anything asked of him. His presence uplifts the entire department—bringing warmth, levity, and connection to a fast-paced environment.

And of course, one of his most beloved contributions: his wife’s brownies, which have achieved near-legendary status among the ED staff.
