Minimally invasive treatment for BPH reaches milestone just 17 months after first case

South County Health marked a major milestone on June 10, 2025, performing its 200th Aquablation procedure—just 17 months after offering the innovative treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The milestone case was performed by Arnold Sarazen, MD, and marks one of the fastest Aquablation adoption rates in the country, according to Procept BioRobotics.

Aquablation therapy is an advanced, minimally invasive option for treating BPH, a condition that affects nearly half of men over age 60. The procedure uses the power of water, delivered with robotic precision, to remove excess prostate tissue and relieve symptoms.

“Reaching this milestone so quickly reflects the tremendous need for effective, low-impact treatment options,” said Dr. Sarazen. “Aquablation offers patients long-term relief without compromising sexual function or continence, and I’m proud that South County Health is leading the way in offering this to our community.”

The 200th case is a testament to the teamwork and expertise driving South County Health’s urology services. In addition to Dr. Sarazen, John Heffernan, MD, Katelyn Johnson, MD, Alexa Lubin, MD, and Joseph Cambio, DO, also perform Aquablation. Team members involved in the milestone procedure included:
•    Arnold Sarazen, MD
•    Patrice Rocha, RN
•    Kim Mossman-Yee, Surgical Technician

South County Health continues to be at the forefront of advanced urologic care, helping patients return to their lives with fewer symptoms and better outcomes.
