Cancer Center Welcomes Dr. Gerald Colvin as Medical Director, Expands Team of Permanent Medical Oncology Providers
South County Health is proud to announce the continued growth of its Cancer Center, highlighted by the return of Gerald Colvin, DO, as Medical Director of the Cancer Center. Dr. Colvin’s leadership marks a pivotal moment in South County Health’s commitment to delivering comprehensive, community-based cancer care across all three oncology domains—medical, surgical, and radiation oncology—right here in southern Rhode Island.
Over the coming months, Dr. Colvin will be joined by three additional permanent medical oncology providers, who bring a wealth of knowledge, skill, and compassion to our already outstanding cancer care team, including Dr. Seidler, who served as interim Medical Director this past year, and Dr. Joyce, Medical Director of Radiation Therapy. Along with recent hires—Dr. McKinney, Michelle Viveiros, DNP, Dr. Espat (Surgical Oncology), and Dr. Assif (Radiation Therapy)—South County Health is now fully staffed with more permanent oncologists than at any point in our history.
“These appointments reflect South County Health’s unwavering dedication and promise to provide comprehensive cancer care to our community," said Aaron Robinson, President and CEO. "With Dr. Colvin returning to lead our program, and the additions of Dr. Reynolds, Patricia Karwan, and Heather Glenn, we are now better equipped than ever to deliver advanced, permanent, community-based cancer care—a truly transformative moment for both our health system and the community we serve.”
New Additions to the Cancer Center
“I’m honored to return to South County Health and to lead this next chapter for our Cancer Center. Together with an outstanding team of oncology providers—many of whom I have had the privilege of working with before— we'll continue building a program where patients have access to advanced medical, surgical, and radiation oncology care close to home, supported by compassion every step of the way.”

Access to Permanent, Expert Oncology Providers
SCH will now feature more permanent oncology providers than ever before including:
7 Medical Oncology Providers
2 Radiation Oncologists
1 Surgical Oncologist
1 Breast Surgeon
Importantly, many of these providers—including Dr. Colvin and Dr. Espat—have worked together in the past, caring for cancer patients both in our community and across Rhode Island. Their long-standing collaboration strengthens the foundation of our Cancer Center and ensures that patients benefit from a team deeply familiar with one another’s expertise and approach.
Expanding Access in East Greenwich
As part of this growth, South County Health will also open a new outpatient cancer clinic at the East Greenwich Medical and Wellness Center later this fall. This expansion will make it even easier for patients and families in central Rhode Island to receive expert cancer care, closer to where they live and work.
For patients of Dr. Colvin, Dr. Reynolds, Patricia Karwan, DNP, and Heather Glenn, FNP, transfer of care information and FAQs can be found HERE.
