Community PCPs Accepting New Patients
As many Rhode Islanders are aware, across the state, patients are struggling to find Primary Care Providers (PCPs) as practices close and physicians retire or leave the state. Unfortunately, at South County Health, over the past 12-24 months, it has been increasingly difficult and at times, unfeasible to immediately re-assign patients to current or new providers at South County Medical Group Primary Care. This scenario has left some of our patients in an unassigned status.
We understand that being in a state of uncertainty or change can be unsettling, especially when it comes to healthcare. Our priority is to educate you on the options available so that you can make informed decisions on how to proceed with your healthcare.
New Providers at SCH
We are pleased to announce the onboarding of several new primary care providers, including:
- Melanie Bowdy, NP (Narragansett) – started in December
- Taryn Carbone, NP (East Greenwich) – starting in March
- Erin Hogan, MD (Narragansett) – starting in April
We are excited to welcome these new providers and look forward to their contributions over the next several months. South County Health is committed to deploying all available resources to recruit additional top-tier providers, and look forward to onboarding additional providers for all of our primary care practices.
Community Providers
Please see below Primary Care Providers (PCPs) that may be accepting new patients in the South County and Kent County areas. The ability of a practice to accept patients changes on a daily basis, particularly in Rhode Island, and South County Health makes no assurances that these practices will be accepting patients at the time a patient calls Information is updated on a quarterly basis, and was last updated on February 6, 2025.
We encourage you to contact your legislators to advocate for reimbursement reform in Rhode Island so that South County Health and all other healthcare providers in our state can effectively recruit and retain the providers you deserve for your ongoing care.
