Bethany Reinhard, RN, Women & Newborn Care Unit, honored with a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses

On December 8, Bethany Reinhard, RN, was recognized with a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. As part of the DAISY tradition, Bethany received a bouquet of daisies, A Healer’s Touch statuette, and a platter of cinnamon buns to share with her unit.

Anitra Galmore, Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Operations Officer, presented the award, alongside Andrew Prescott, General Counsel.

Bethany has been a nurse at South County Health since 2019. She was nominated by a patient, Andrea, who attended the recognition with her baby daughter, Caroline. In her nomination letter, she writes:

My husband and I cannot say enough wonderful things about Bethany, our Labor and Delivery nurse for the birth of our daughter Caroline. After coming to the hospital in the middle of the night in labor I was pretty exhausted and anxious by the time Bethany took over my care in the morning. She truly went above and beyond to make sure we were as comfortable as we could be, answered any questions we had, kept us in the loop every step of the way.

Daisy Award recipient Bethany Reinhard with her nominator Andrea and her daughter CarolineOne of the things that impressed me most was how in-step she was with Dr. Dalton (Megin Dalton MD, Chief of Ob/Gyn, Medical Director, Center for Women's Health). She was always working with her to make sure I knew exactly what to expect in the upcoming hours to ease my anxiety. When my blood pressure and blood sugar were dipping during my labor, and I was exhausted and weak, I felt like I might pass out and I was nervous for both myself and the baby, Bethany stayed with me until I felt comfortable again, not leaving my side until all my levels were back up and I was able to fall asleep. Bethany tried EVERYTHING in her power to ensure I had a chance at the birthing experience I wanted, and no one was happier for us when Caroline came into the world easily and safely.

The joy she felt for us was truly a special feeling I won’t soon forget! My husband and I both feel she went so far above and beyond every step of the way - and she really had to work for it, it was a long labor but she never made us feel like there was anything more important than being there for us. She is a wonderful nurse, any mom coming in to deliver would be lucky to have her!

About the DAISY Foundation

The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes. His family was awestruck by the care and compassion his nurses provided and one of the goals they set in creating a Foundation was to recognize extraordinary nurses everywhere who make an enormous difference in the lives of so many people by the super-human work they do every day.

Cinnamon rolls were a favorite of Patrick’s during his illness. The Barnes Family asks that whenever and wherever nurses smell that wonderful cinnamon aroma, they stop for a moment and think about how special they are.

To nominate a nurse for the DAISY Award, patients, visitors, nurses, physicians, or colleagues may complete and submit the form on our website.
