Meet Siobhan Ryan, BSN, RN, CCRN

Director of Intensive Care Unit, Med Surge, Float Pool and Respiratory Therapy/EKG/EEG

About Siobhan

I began my career here as a ward secretary on the telemetry unit in 2001.  I had graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, and took a position as a diet technician later that year. I decided that I wanted a more fast-paced career and that going to nursing school would be my path forward. I enrolled at CCRI and began my journey to become an RN.

From GPAs to KPIs

While in nursing school I was offered a position in the South County Hospital ICU as a student nurse associate.  I was paired up with a nurse and was able to be fully emerged in nursing practice. Once I graduated with a BSN from nursing school, I was offered a position in the ICU as a new grad nurse.  I continued to grow and took on more responsibility, became the charge nurse, then clinical leader, nurse manager and eventually director.  I am certified in critical care nursing by the AACN.

Mentors Matter

Bobbie Fay was my mentor in nursing leadership. She was the nursing leader of the ICU until 2020 when she was promoted to ADNO (Administrative Director of Nursing Operations), and I took over as director.  I worked beside her for over 15 years.  She taught me so much and I am forever grateful for that. She taught me that supporting my team is the number one priority in a leadership role.

Support System

South County Health has a great tuition reimbursement program.  This has helped me continue my education over the years. I graduated from CCRI with my associate in nursing degree, and went on to obtain my BSN with the help and support of SCH’s generous tuition reimbursement program.   I also enjoy the community culture and really value the strong teamwork that happens day to day.

Most Trusted Health Partner

I live in the community and love being able to work here and support local community members and their loved ones in a time of need without having to go far from home.  I feel supported by my nursing leadership colleagues and find that we work very well together on a professional level.

Why Nursing?

Nursing has limitless opportunities.  There are so many career paths.

Who is Siobhan outside of South County Health?

I am a busy mom to 3 children, Lila 12, Ryan 10, and Jade 7.  When I am not at work, my husband and I are driving from one activity to another!  We love the beach and traveling, preferably to somewhere warm with good surf.
