PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN CORRINE PERRIN HONORED BY NURSING COLLEAGUES WITH A SOUTH COUNTY HEALTH PETAL AWARD
WAKEFIELD, RI (08/07/23) — On Monday, August 7, South County Health Patient Care Technician Corrine Perrin was recognized with a Petal Award. Corrine was nominated by Susan DelFarno, RN, and Vanessa Schofield, RN.
Anitra Galmore, Vice President, COO/CNO, presented Corrine with her award, referring to her as “an exceptional example of our values in action.” And praising her ability to “see the whole person and treat them with dignity and respect.” Along with her award, Corrine received a bouquet of daisies and a beautiful tray of frosted sugar cookies for the entire department to enjoy.
Corrine is a Patient Care Technician in South County Hospital’s Telemetry Unit. Under the supervision of the nursing team, Patient Care Technicians provide daily care for patients including taking vital signs, helping to move patients, and assisting patients with basic needs. Corrine has been with SCH since 2016 and is currently in her second year of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program at Rhode Island College.
In their nominating letter, Susan and Vanessa describe Corrine as going “above and beyond” in assisting a patient going through severe withdrawal. “Corrine did not give up on this patient. She is a very hard worker. She never stops. She is patient, caring, and compassionate. We are lucky to have her.”
The Petal Award is a program created by South County Health’s Nursing Shared Governance group to recognize outstanding nursing support staff. Nurses wouldn’t be able to perform their jobs without the help of dedicated and talented support staff. The Petal Award shows this appreciation by creating a way for patients and colleagues to recognize these essential members of the care team. The inaugural Petal award was presented to Laura Gardiner in May of 2023.
Petal Award honorees personify South County Health’s commitment to patient experience. These individuals consistently demonstrate excellence through their extraordinary, compassionate care while promoting a restful and healing environment.
They are recognized as outstanding role models in our patient care community.
