Family Medicine vs. Internal Medicine

Primary Care Physicians

Primary care physicians (PCPs) are committed to helping you achieve and maintain good health through every stage of life by offering comprehensive services, including annual visits and screenings with a focus on disease prevention and health promotion.

Family medicine physicians provide primary care for people of all ages - from newborn to the elderly.

Internal medicine physicians provide primary care for people age 18 through the elderly.

The South County Medical Group (SCMG) is staffed by experienced, caring physicians in both Family Medicine and Internal Medicine. Each offers patients seamless continuity of care if a specialist or hospitalization is required.

When necessary, they will coordinate care with other medical and behavioral health specialists to make certain you get the best treatment options for your condition and lifestyle.

Patients whose primary care providers and specialty physicians are part of the South County Medical Group benefit from shared electronic health records, giving the team of inter-disciplinary experts the ability to access patient information quickly and easily, ensuring accurate and immediate communication to give you the best possible care.
