Cancer Center Welcomes New Providers
Cancer Center Welcomes Dr. Gerald Colvin as Medical Director, Expands Team of Permanent Medical Oncology Providers
At South County Health, we believe in nurturing the potential of our employees and providing opportunities for career growth. Julia Brockwell’s journey from medical receptionist to Certified Surgical Technologist exemplifies how our commitment to professional development and supportive culture transforms lives—both for our staff and the patients they serve.
“I started at the Center for Women’s Health in 2022 as a medical receptionist. I saw an email from SCH advertising CCRI was partnering with SCH to put employees through school for Surgical Tech. I was so excited when I was accepted to the program.”
“All the techs at SCH made my internship the best experience during my schooling. Without them, I would have been lost in surgery; it was helpful doing the internship where I would be working, too.”
“I was able to work per diem at the office while in school which was so helpful. I look forward to developing my skills in the OR and become a master at all the specialties.”
“Shortly after starting at SCH, I had some things happen in my personal life. My coworkers were all caring and supportive to me when I came back to work. This made the process easier, and it was great to have a fantastic group of people to be with every day.”
“If anyone is looking to do something similar with their career, my advice is to do it! I made friends in school we helped each other get through the program and still are getting together to study for our certification exam.”
“I am excited for my future with SCH and I am so glad I get to make a difference in people’s lives as a Surgical Technologist.”
“I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends, in the summer we go out on the boat or jet skis. In the cooler months we enjoy cooking and watching football.”
"SCH’s partnership with CCRI, per diem work opportunities, and supportive team culture have been invaluable in helping me grow professionally, prepare for certification, and envision my future in surgical care."
Julia’s story reflects SCH’s mission to empower employees through education, mentorship, and opportunity. By investing in our team’s growth, we not only help our staff reach their full potential, but we also ensure the highest quality care for our community.
