Cancer Center Welcomes New Providers
Cancer Center Welcomes Dr. Gerald Colvin as Medical Director, Expands Team of Permanent Medical Oncology Providers
At South County Health, people are at the heart of everything we do—whether they are patients, providers, staff, or the volunteers who give their time, energy, and compassion to our community. Our Volunteer Program embodies this spirit of commitment, helping to create a warm, welcoming environment where care extends beyond medicine. Sara Vogelpohl, MPH, CPXP, helps to lead this program.
Sara has been part of South County Health since 2011. Her current role is Team Leader, Patient Information and Volunteers. Her story is one of professional growth, lifelong learning, and deep pride in being part of an organization that values people as much as it values health.
“I started my career at SCH back in November 2011 as a field clinician for Home Health. My professional and personal experiences in healthcare have shaped my goal of being in a role that has a broader positive impact on the healthcare system. This is why while working full-time here at SCH, I went to school part-time to earn my bachelor’s degree and my master’s degree.”
“I have been fortunate to have many leaders and colleagues who were always supportive of my education and career goals.”
“I utilized the tuition reimbursement benefit and was awarded one of the scholarships that is given out to staff members pursuing higher education each year.”
“I have an associate's in applied science from CCRI, a bachelor's in health studies from URI, a master's in public health from UMass Amherst, and a Certification in Patient Experience.”
“I aspire to continue to learn and grow here at SCH and am open to whatever capacity that looks like—advancing my role as a leader while continuing to have a positive impact on our healthcare system.”
“I’ve been with SCH for almost 14 years. What keeps me at SCH is the feeling of community, the warm and welcoming environment, the support from leaders and colleagues. It has also always given me great pride to work for SCH, hearing from patients throughout the years about the great care and experience they receive when at SCH.”
“Never stop learning and don’t be afraid to share your career aspirations with others.”
“I look forward to SCH continuing to have opportunities that promote career growth within the organization.”
“I grew up in South County with my two older sisters. I enjoy spending time with my family in my personal time and spoiling my niece and three nephews.”
Sara’s story is just one example of how South County Health invests in its people and builds a culture rooted in care, growth, and community. Whether through mentoring, scholarship opportunities, or a welcoming work environment, SCH provides a place where professionals can thrive while making a difference in the lives of patients and families every day. It’s a reminder that the heart of South County Health beats strongest through the people who dedicate themselves to its mission.
