What is a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner?
A Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who specializes in the care of newborns, particularly those born prematurely, with low birth weight, or with complex medical conditions. NNPs work in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), delivery rooms, and follow-up clinics, often collaborating closely with neonatologists, pediatricians, respiratory therapists, and other specialists.
