On June 6, 2022, renovations to the first floor of the hospital’s Medical Office Building at 70 Kenyon Avenue were complete, creating a new and modern location for Ortho Rhode Island’s Wakefield office, formerly located at One High Street.
The 14,000 square foot facility bring Ortho Rhode Island’s world-class orthopedics, sports medicine, physical therapy, and occupational therapy services to the South County Hospital campus.
The Center for Advanced Orthopedic Surgery is a unique, ongoing partnership between Ortho Rhode Island and South County Health to offer patients minimally invasive procedures such as arthroscopy, robotic-assisted surgery, and joint replacements, with a continuum of care that will bridge Ortho Rhode Island’s practice in Suite 100 with South County Hospital’s Frost Unit where orthopedic patients receive post-surgical care prior to discharge.

With the Ortho Rhode Island office move complete, and other construction and renovation projects throughout South County Hospital’s campus underway, the new Center for Advanced Orthopedic Surgery will connect the providers and services of Ortho RI team directly to South County Hospital’s orthopedic wing on the first floor of the Frost Tower by a glass-enclosed walkway.
This connector will not only connect the two towers, but also serves as a healing environment for patient rehabilitation therapy with plenty of sunlight and views of Salt Pond.
